PARENTS: J.D. "Deboe" Davis debuted on January 14, 1918, in (presumably) Cotton Valley, Webster Parish, Louisiana [1-3]. He was the sixth child of the nine known children born to James Monroe Davis (April 13, 1882-January 13, 1942) and Thomas Cornelius "Neeley" "Nellie" Slough (August 1, 1884-July 18, 1936) [4-13]. Besides J.D., the couple had children Rosa Lee (August 26, 1903-June 25, 1991), Guy Thomas (December 18, 1904-September 17, 1969), Roy Montgomery (February 27, 1907-August 13, 1968), Daisy Birdie (May 2, 1910-April 23, 1984), Lottie Mae (November 29, 1912-October 31, 1988), Ruby Viola (June 10, 1919-November 10, 1984), Alfred Earnest (September 23, 1921-October 17, 1987), and Ray Davis (October 13, 1924-October 10, 1977) [4-21].

MARRIAGE 1: On April 4, 1942, in Miller County, Arkansas, J.D. married Mittie Sunshine Reynolds [22-26]. Born on March 23, 1926, in Garland, Miller County, Arkansas, Mittie was the daughter of Ira Daniel Reynolds and Mittie Dean Hughes [27-29].
CHILD: The marriage between J.D. Davis and Mittie Sunshine Reynolds produced a daughter, Lisa Dianne Davis, on November 16, 1958, in Texarkana, Miller County, Arkansas [30-36]. Sadly, Lisa died on August 16, 2013, in Lemay, St. Louis, Missouri [30-36]. She was fifty-four [30-36]. Unfortunately, the marriage between J.D. and Sunshine ended on June 8, 1960, in Miller County, Arkansas, two years after the birth of their daughter [37-38].
MARRIAGE 2: After divorcing Mittie, J.D. remarried and wedded Frances Aline Stroup, on August 30, 1965, in Texarkana, Miller County, Arkansas [31]. Born on May 30, 1942, in Texarkana, Miller County, Arkansas, Frances is the daughter of Jesse Ardell Stroup and Willie Massey [31,39-40].

CHILD: The marriage between J.D. Davis and Frances Aline Stroup produced a daughter, Dana Michaelle Davis, born on August 31, 1961, in Texarkana, Miller County, Arkansas [31, 41-43]. Dana is biologically the daughter of Frances from a previous relationship, but J.D. adopted her [31].

She is at rest by her last husband, Raymond Otis Hopkins, at the Chapel Memorial Gardens and Mausoleum, in Wake Village, Bowie County, Texas [27]. Frances is still alive and is now married to J.D.'s nephew, J.A. Corn [44-49]. They married on July 6, 1979, in Texarkana, Bowie County, Texas [44-49].

This blog was created for my granddaughters, Natalie Elizabeth and Emmalyn Rose Herron, to share the experiences of me and Mitch, along with our viewpoints on politics, religion, and the history we are creating. I respectfully understand that you may not always agree with our perspectives. We want to teach the two of them our history, their family history, and American history, so they, too, will learn to question with boldness! Should you disagree with our viewpoints, please keep your negative commentary in your mind. This blog may not be for you.
